English composition: ”My ideal job”

Aquest és el writing de la Júlia González i de l’Emma Fernández de 4t C, elaborat a la classe d’anglès:

I’ve got a friend that is called Ahaddad, and his ideal and inusual job is to work as delivery man of Chinese food.

For this job you have to be curious, chaim and friendly. You have to have a good sense of direction and a driving licence to drive a motorbike. I think that he has got all these things.

He want to work as a delivery man because he wants to meet more people, he loves driving his motorbike so he doesn’t mind driving. Also he knows every place of the beautiful city of Montornès and he never got lost.

Redacció en anglès per donar a conèixer el nostre poble!

Aquest és l’article de la Sara Garcí de 4t B per tal de presentar el nostre poble als holandesos que vindran a fer l’intercanvi.

Montornes is a big village. It’s got a theatre, two secondary schools and five primary schools. It has a library and lots of parks too.

In my opinion, Montornes is a quiet village, although people, who live here, like the party. There are some squares to go out in the evening, and some restaurants and bars, too. In addition, there is a skate park. There is also a gym, and swimming pools. However, there are some things about Montornes that I don’t like. It has an industrial tred, and, although, it gives work to many people, it produces a lot of pollution. And, moreover, there aren’t many secondary schools, there are only two, and in Montornes, there are lots of children, so it would be better if there was another high school.

In conclusion, I like Montornes. It’s a good place to live because it’s small, calm but it’s a funny place because of its people and popular parties.

Our town, our secondary school

Our town, our secondary school

Montornès del Vallès is a town located in the Barcelona province, around 30 kilometres from Barcelona.

It was founded in the XIX century, but thinking in historical terms our castle belongs to the XII century. Other interesting sightseeings are the Medieval fortress and the church of Sant Sadurni.“ The fortress of Sant Miquel” is located in the municipal highest point. Nowadays, Only half of the tower remains untouched. And the Sant Sadurni church is the patron saint of Montornès.

Montornès is plenty of squares and parks, they are really nice!. The most important one is the colourful Pau Picasso’s square, which was made in honor to the famous painter Pablo Picasso. Many different activities are organized here along the year.

A river called Mongent goes across Montornès, it goes right the “Casal de Cultura” and the sports centre. In this sports center, you can practice all kind of sports from athletics to indoors football.

Other meaningful buildings to mention are the library and theatre, where a variety of music and dancing shows are performanced every year.

On the third week of September, Montornes celebrates its feast. The town council organizes a lot of activities and the Montornes citizens have a great time with them. One of the most traditional shows is the “giants”, also very popular in the rest of Catalonia and the “correfoc” that is a firework exhibition. The Montornès “giants” are called Pere Antoni and Bartomeu Sala.

In relation to the education system , in Montornès there are five primary schools and two secondary schools.

The primary schools are located in different places of the town, because there are a lot of children, and people want young chilldren to have a good education near their houses.

Our secondary school is called Marta Mata, in honor to an important Catalonian teacher. The main building of this centre hasn’t built yet. And although we have all the technological material we need, we are studying in barrack huts by now.

From all the curricular subjects, the ones we like most are the optional subjects, for example radio, the web and digital magazine, and “enfoc”. This is a special subject, in which we learn to make videos. In fact, now we are creating our own tv programme. We also have a small garden, where the students grow different types of vegetables and aromathic plants.

At the moment, a new library is being fitted out and we are really excited about this idea!

During the school year different feats are celebrated, the most popular ones are Saint George and Carnival day. These days, the students usually participate in contests creating shows on their own.

It is also interesting to mention the physical education class, because as the centre doesn’t have any room for a gym, the Montornès town council borrows us the sports centre. Last year we were very lucky, because we had lessons in the swimming pool and they were great!

In general, we are happy with our school life, although we would like to have the new building constructed soon.
